Screenshots
Screenshot the chart or the whole app, mark it up, crop and resize it, set it on a background, then save, copy or share it as a PNG or a link.
The camera in the chart toolbar takes a screenshot of the chart or of the whole app. The screenshot opens in an editor where you can mark it up, hide what you don’t want to share, crop it and set it on a background. Then save it as a PNG, copy it, or share it as a link.
Taking a Chart screenshot, adding a curved arrow, two numbered steps and a Pill note, switching to the Lagoon gradient with a window frame, then saving the PNG with Done.
Take a screenshot
-
Click Screenshot, the camera at the right of the chart toolbar, just after the layout controls.
-
Choose what to capture:
- Chart: the active chart with its legend, price scale and time axis. The drawing toolbar is left out.
- Chart layout: every chart in the layout. It’s only in the menu when the layout has more than one chart.
- Window: the whole app as it looks now.
-
The camera turns into a spinner while the picture is taken, then the editor opens. A Window screenshot can take a few seconds.
The screenshot is taken inside the app, so there’s no permission prompt and it never includes other windows or your desktop. Notifications and menus that are closing are left out. Screenshots are taken at high resolution, usually twice the size they show on screen, so they stay sharp when someone zooms in.
A Window screenshot shows everything on screen, including your name and the account you’re on. Use Blur to hide them before you share it.
The editor
- The top bar starts with Crop & Resize and Hide background, which hides the panel on the right. Click it again (Show background) to bring the panel back. The tools come next, then the controls for the tool you’re using, Undo and Redo.
- Save as…, Done and Close are at the right of the top bar. See Save, copy or share.
- The bar under the picture has the zoom menu on the left and the ways to send the picture on at the right.
- The Background panel on the right sets what the picture sits on. See Background.
Mark it up
The tools run along the top of the editor. Pick one, then draw on the picture. Each has a key you can press instead. The editor opens with Arrow picked. Once you’ve placed a mark, the editor goes back to Select and move with the new mark selected, so you can move or restyle it straight away. Pen and Highlighter stay picked so you can keep drawing.
| Tool | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Select and move | V | Click a mark to select it and drag it to move it. Drag a corner of a selected box, ellipse, blurred area or spotlight to resize it. |
| Arrow | A | Drag from the tail to the point. |
| Line | L | Drag from one end to the other. |
| Rectangle | R | Drag from one corner to the opposite one. |
| Ellipse | O | Drag across the area to circle. |
| Filled rectangle | F | Drag out a solid box with rounded corners, to cover something or put a block of colour behind a note. |
| Text | T | Click where the text goes and type. Press Enter to finish, or Shift Enter for a new line. See Text. |
| Numbered step | N | Click to place a numbered circle. Each one you place takes the next number. |
| Pen | P | Draw freehand. |
| Highlighter | H | Draw a broad see-through stroke over what matters. |
| Blur | B | Drag over an area to hide it, for account numbers and anything else private. See Blur. |
| Spotlight | S | Drag around an area to dim everything else. See Spotlight. |
- Hold Shift while you drag to keep lines and arrows at 45° steps and to make rectangles square and ellipses round.
- To change text you’ve placed, click it with Text, or double-click it with Select and move.
- After you place a numbered step, press N or pick Numbered step again for the next one.
- Press Ctrl D to duplicate the selected mark, and Delete or Backspace to remove it.
- Undo and Redo are in the top bar. Press Ctrl Z to undo and Ctrl Shift Z or Ctrl Y to redo. On a Mac, use ⌘ wherever this page says Ctrl.
Tool controls
Only the tool you’re using shows its controls, after the tools in the top bar. They change the text you’re typing or the selected mark. With a tool picked and nothing selected, they set how its next mark looks.
- Colour opens eight colours, your saved colours and a custom colour picker. Where the browser can, the dropper picks a colour from anywhere on your screen. Click + to save a custom colour for later.
- Thickness has six steps, from the finest line to the heaviest. Press 1 to 6 instead. Arrows, lines, rectangles, ellipses, numbered steps, the pen and the highlighter have it.
- Arrow style: Standard, Fancy, Curved or Double, with a head at both ends. Drag the handle in the middle of a selected curved arrow to change its bend.
- A Filled rectangle has a colour only.
Each tool remembers its own controls in this browser, so it starts the way you last used it.
Text
While you type, or with a note selected, the text controls are Colour, Font size, Text style, Bold and Italic.
- Font size runs from 10 to 64 pt.
- Text style sets how the note looks: Plain, Pill (on a white pill), Solid (on a block of its colour), Outline, Shadow, Marker (over a see-through stripe of its colour) or Mono.
- Press Ctrl B for bold and Ctrl I for italic, while you type or with a note selected.
- While you type, the face button above the note adds an emoji at the cursor.
- Drag the handle at either side of a selected note to set the width its lines wrap at.
Blur
Blur style sets how Blur hides an area:
- Pixelate turns it into coarse blocks.
- Blur smudges it.
- Solid covers it with a block of colour, and shows a Colour control.
Strength sets how much Pixelate and Blur hide, from 1 to 10. Press [ and ] to turn it down and up. Where blurred areas overlap, each is applied in turn, so a blur never shows what a cover underneath it hid. While you edit, a border shows where each blurred area is. The saved picture leaves the border out.
Spotlight
Spotlight dims everything outside the area you drag, blurred areas included.
- Spotlight shape: a Rounded rectangle or an Ellipse.
- Dimming sets how dark the rest of the picture gets, from 20% to 90%. Press [ and ] to change it in steps of 5%.
- Spotlight padding adds 0, 8, 16 or 32 px of light around the area.
- Dashed outline draws a dashed line round it.
Crop and resize
- Click Crop & Resize at the left of the top bar, or press C or K. The drawing tools give way to the crop controls.
- Drag over the part of the picture you want to keep. Drag the area to move it, or drag a corner to resize it. Or choose a shape from the ratio menu: Freeform, Original, Square (1:1), Portrait (4:5), 4:3, 3:2, Widescreen (16:9), Story (9:16) or Banner (2:1).
- Click Crop or press Enter. Reset goes back to the whole picture and Cancel leaves the crop as it was.
The other crop controls:
- The width and height fields set the crop’s exact size in pixels. The link between them keeps the shape while you change one. Make the crop bigger than the picture to add room around it, filled with the Fill colour. Fill starts as the colour at the picture’s edge.
- Rotate 90° clockwise and Flip horizontally turn the picture, and your marks turn with it.
- The image size menu shows the PNG’s size in pixels. Choose 100%, 75%, 50% or 25% to save it smaller.
- Snap to edges pulls a freeform crop’s edges to the picture’s edges as you drag. Hold Ctrl to place an edge freely.
Your marks stay where you drew them when you crop. To bring back the whole picture, click Undo crop in the Image section at the bottom of the side panel.
Background
The panel on the right sets what the picture sits on. It starts on the Twilight gradient. Hide background in the top bar hides the panel and Show background brings it back.
- Presets saves the background, layout and window frame under a name, so you can use them again in one click. Click the pin beside a preset to start every screenshot with it, and the bin to delete it. You can keep up to 20.
- None leaves the picture on its own, with no padding, shadow or ratio.
- Gradients: ten soft gradients, and ten more under Show more.
- Wallpapers: Graphite, Night grid and Aurora. Click Add your own picture, the button after them, to use a picture of yours. It stays on this device and is never uploaded. Point to it and click × to remove it.
- Blurred: a soft or heavy blur of the screenshot itself, or a blurred aurora.
- Plain colour: sixteen colours, or the rainbow circle for any colour.
The Layout section sets how the picture sits on the background:
- Padding: the space around the picture, from 0 to 160.
- Inset: a border inside the picture, in the colour at its edge, from 0 to 120. Auto-balance measures the empty space at each edge of the screenshot and evens it out.
- Shadow: how strong the shadow under the picture is, from 0 to 100%.
- Corners: how rounded the picture’s corners are, from 0 to 32.
- Window frame puts the picture in a window with a title bar, like a Mac app window. It’s on to start with for Window screenshots and off for chart screenshots.
- Alignment places the picture in one of nine spots when the ratio leaves room around it.
- Ratio sets the shape of the whole image: Auto fits the picture, or choose 1:1, 4:5, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 or 2:1, which add more background on the short sides.
Your background and layout are remembered in this browser for next time.
Image at the bottom of the panel shows what you captured, the size of the PNG in pixels and how many marks you’ve added.
Save, copy or share
- Done saves the PNG and closes the editor. Shortcut: Ctrl S. The PNG is named after the symbol, the interval and the time you took it, for example
Tether EURUSD 15m 2026-10-21 at 14.45.14.png. - Save as… asks where to save the PNG, where the browser can, and keeps the editor open. Shortcut: Ctrl Shift S.
- Copy, at the right of the bar under the picture, puts the PNG on your clipboard, ready to paste into a chat or a post. Shortcut: Ctrl Shift C.
- Share opens your device’s share sheet. It only shows where the browser can share files, such as on a phone.
- Drag me, in the middle of the bar, drags the PNG into another app or a folder. It shows in Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers.
- Links uploads the picture and copies a link to it. See Share a link.
The PNG matches what the editor shows, marks, background and all, without the selection outline or the border around blurred areas.
The zoom menu at the left of the bar shows the picture at Fit to window or at 25% to 200%. Press Ctrl + and Ctrl - to zoom in and out, and Ctrl 0 to fit. Zooming doesn’t change the PNG.
Click Close or press Esc to leave the editor without saving. While you’re typing, cropping or have a mark selected, Esc backs out of that first. Closing throws the screenshot away, so save or copy it first.
Share a link
- Click Links, the chain at the right of the bar under the picture, then Upload and copy link.
- Check the picture doesn’t show anything private, then click Upload and copy link.
The link is copied, ready to paste. Anyone with it can open the picture for 30 days, and it shows as a preview in Discord and X. If the PNG is over 5 MB, the uploaded copy is made smaller so the preview still shows it. The message that confirms the upload says so. Saving, copying and sharing keep the full size.
To take a link down, click Delete link in that message, or open Links again: Your links lists the links that still work with the days each has left, with buttons to copy or delete each one. A deleted link stops opening straight away.
You can upload up to 30 screenshots an hour, each up to 8 MB as a PNG.
In the desktop app
The Tether Terminal desktop app has no Share button. With Window frame on, a Window screenshot keeps the window buttons where the app shows them, in its own top bar, instead of adding a title bar above it. A crop that leaves out the top-left corner gets the title bar.
On a Mac, the editor’s tools start to the right of the window buttons, so none of them sit underneath. Drag the empty part of the editor’s top bar to move the window.
